Head to the exclusive Avista restaurant in Mayfair for a spot of romance Italian style in central London. In keeping with the neighbourhood, Avista is a swanky and very stylish Italian restaurant and is a popular choice amongst the area’s well heeled diners looking to romance a loved one/date. Situated in the Mayfair Millennium Hotel, Avista boasts a stunning dining room, designed by David d’Almada, which sees exposed brickwork; marble and granite combine to create a cool and contemporary space. Although very pleasing on the eye, it is the menu at Avista that has created such a buzz in Mayfair though. Ex Zafferano Chef Michele Granziera has produced an outstanding selection of rustic Italian dishes. Start with a dish of perfectly cooked baby octopus with soft polenta or a zingy beetroot salad with orange dressing before indulging in main courses such as veal cutlet with fondant potato and mixed mushrooms or grilled swordfish with herbed butter and chorizo. The wine list spans the while of Italy and offers some very fine bottles of both red and white. If you want the perfect Italian restaurant for your romantic date and have the cash to splash (we are in Mayfair after all), then Avista is a very fine choice indeed.
