The younger sibling of the excellent Club Gascon, Comptoir Gascon in London’s Smithfield is a charming French restaurant that sums up rustic, romantic French dining. This fabulous French bistro has followed in the very successful footsteps of it’s older sibling and neighbour, the Michelin starred Club Gascon, but with the aim of bringing a more informal bistro style south west French cuisine to the tables of London. Awarded a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide in 2006, Comptoir Gascon has already began to impress the culinary world and has also become a popular destination for romantic dining too with it’s delightful French rustic charm. Chalkboards featuring the specials sit upon roughly painted walls and wooden tables provide the base for a veritable feast of taste sensations. Treat your loved one to a delicious Gascony pie filled with duck mousse and French fried cooked in duck fat; cassoulet Toulousain or a selection of foie gras.
