Romance has arrived on the doorstep of London’s Sloane Square with elegant French restaurant Le Cercle. Follow the backlit steps down into a beautiful basement dining room complete with double height ceilings, dark wood furnishings and warming tones contrasted by gleaming white tablecloths. The perfect setting for a delightful meal for two, Le Cercle is immediately impressive. The booth tables around the edge of the dining room provide the utmost in intimacy, whereas the mezzanine lounge offers a bird’s eye view over the main dining room. The French menu is vast and is divided into sections – vegetal, marin, fermier, terroirs and plaisirs meaning that there is something for all tastes. Highlights include squid stuffed with bacon and crisp vegetables; pan fried sea bass with ratatouille; beef onglet with confit potatoes and green asparagus and roast sea bream with onions confit and vanilla sauce. End the meal on a high with desserts such as profiteroles with ginger ice cream and apricot sauce. The cocktail lounge is the best place to round off an enchanting evening with a glass or two next to the open fire.
