Opened in September 2006 along Drury Lane in London’s Covent Garden, Tamarai is a stunning Pan Asian restaurant and bar offering a glamourous setting for any romantic meal. Tamarai, meaning lotus in chettinad/tamil, is a beautifully exotic London restaurant found in the heart of theatreland and caters for up to 110 diners. The additional bar area provides space for up to 200 people and with a late night license, is a popular drinking haunt in Covent Garden. Tamarai also boasts a fantastic photo arcade and digital gallery showcasing cutting edge art as well as a superb private dining room. As for the food, Tamarai’s head chef hails from the Indian region of Chettinad and brings with him a wealth of experience as well as some the regions finest chefs to work by his side. The menu changes regularly but features amazing dishes such as grilled baby barramundi with nam prik pao noodles; tender beef satay with wasabi yoghurt; Chettinad rabbit varuval with cinnamon scented poha and tomato mustard chutney and sweet chilli lotus stem with chives and coriander. The Charles Metcalfe devised wine list is outstanding and accompanies the menu perfectly.
